Frequently Asked Questions

The Lights for Learning fundraiser provides schools or organizations the opportunity to earn funds by selling energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs). Here are some answers to questions you may have:

1) Why sell CFLs?
Everyone needs to buy light bulbs! Here are some reasons they should buy CFLs:

  • They last up to 10 times as long as incandescent bulbs
  • They use up to 75% less energy while emitting the same amount of light
  • Their energy is used creating light rather than heat. They are cooler to the touch, helping to keep your house cooler during the hot summer months.
  • Using less energy means lower utility bills month after month
  • Less energy used means less air pollution

6)  Is it complicated to participate?
It’s easy!  You will receive an order form for each participant. You also have the opportunity to have one of our Field Representatives come to your school to either host a kick-off assembly or simply just address a small group of kids.  We will tailor every sale to your needs. It can be a door-to-door sale or a booth at a baseball game or grocery store! At the end of the sales period, compile the number of bulbs sold and send in a check for half of the amount raised. Keep the other half and the bulbs are sent to you for distribution within 2 weeks. Help is available through the entire process.
